- ప్రపంచ ఆహార దినోత్సవంను ప్రతి సంవత్సరం ప్రపంచం మొత్తం అక్టోబరు 16 తేదిన జరుపుకుంటారు.
- దీనికి కారణం 1945 సంవత్సరం అక్టోబరు 16వ తేదిన ఐక్యరాజ్యసమితి యొక్క ఆహార మరియు వ్యవసాయక సంస్థ స్థాపించబడింది.
- ఈ సంస్థను ఆంగ్లంలో FAO అంటారు. FAO అనగా ఫుడ్ అండ్ అగ్రికల్చర్ ఆర్గనైజేషన్.
- ఈ సంస్థ గౌరవార్థం ఈ సంస్థ ఏర్పడిన అక్టోబరు 16 తేదిని ప్రపంచ ఆహార దినోత్సవంగా నిర్ణయించారు.
- ఈ దినోత్సవాన్ని ప్రపంచ ఆహార కార్యక్రమంతో సహా ఆహార భద్రతకు సంబంధించిన అనేక ఇతర సంస్థలు విస్తృతంగా జరుపుకుంటున్నాయి.
- ఈ ప్రపంచ ఆహార దినోత్సవ కార్యక్రమాన్ని మొదటిసారి 1981 లో జరుపుకున్నారు.
- అప్పటి నుంచి ప్రతి సంవత్సరం ఈ దినోత్సవం రోజున ఆహార భద్రతకు సంబంధించిన ఒక్కో సందేశాన్నిస్తున్నారు.
